Dotted Moray  [11 of 28]

English Dotted Moray Eel (Muraena augusti) Español Morena Negra Deutsch Schwarze Murane
This is probably the most common moray found on Gran Canaria, and is also one of the endemic species only found in the Canaries, Madeira and the Azores. They grow up to 1 m long and prefer rocky botttoms or broken cliffs where they hide among the crevices. They look blue-grey or black from a distance but shine a torch on them and their spots will become more visible.
