English Scorpion Fish (Scorpaena) Español Rascacios Deutsch Kleiner Drachenkopf
There are several similar species of these fish in Gran Canaria which are all called scorpionfish. The commonest are the small Madeira rock-fish as illustrated which grow up to 15cm in length and can be identified by the banded colour pattern. The larger grey/green Small-scaled scorpionfish can be up to 30cm in length. The spines on the back contain a poison and should not be touched.
